Consumer Credit Group Licence UK
CONSUMER CREDIT GROUP LICENCE UK
The UK Consumer Credit Act 1974 requires most businesses that offer credit or lend money to consumers to be licensed by the Office of Fair Trading or by a Group Licence issued to certain bodies, including professional bodies such as the Institute.
Trading without a licensing arrangement is a criminal offence and can result in a fine and/or imprisonment.
Details of every business which has a licence, has applied for one, or had one revoked, suspended or varied are available to the public in the Consumer Credit Register.
