Amended Practising Certificate Regulations
Members should note that as of 1 August 2011 amended Practising Certificate Regulations will come into effect.
These changes will not materially affect the existing regime. In summary, the purpose of the amendments is to:
- insert a new definition of public practice (regulation 1.10);
- allow the Quality Assurance Committee to waive or relax criteria when considering applications for the initial grant or renewal of a practising certificate (regulations 2.12 and 2.18);
- extend the period allowed for a member to submit information to the Quality Assurance Committee from 30 days to 60 days where the Committee is considering imposing restrictions or conditions on a practising certificate (regulation 4.44);
- separate the regulations and the accompanying guidance into two separate documents;
- reflect the current Board and committee structure as well as the establishment of CARB;
- make the necessary conforming amendments required as a result of amendments made to other regulations, bye-laws, codes and standards; and
- make the necessary conforming amendments required in consequence of the above amendments.
